A Break From The Weather

Ran across this picture while I was looking at pics on my memory card. I took this while I was driving on Hwy 75 north out of Tulsa about a month ago. This car has one of the biggest antenna's I have ever seen anyone put on a car. He must have a mobile NASA command center in there. (Just an accident that the telephone pole makes it look even bigger than it is. You can't plan these things at 70mph.)

11-30 Snow

Here's a short clip of 91st and Deleware about an hour after the snow started.

Winter is Here

Well my timing for the front arrival in Tulsa was just about right on. Here is a mesonet temp map captured at 9:55.

Big Weather Change by Tomorrow Afternoon

It appears that the heavily advertised cold front and winter storm will be making its presence felt by mid afternoon tomorrow. Right now the timing of the cold front's arrival is different everywhere you look. I think I am going to side with NWS Tulsa on the fact that it should be south of Tulsa by noon tomorrow. That would put it through here between 10 and 11 am. Unfortunately that means our chance at severe weather here in Tulsa will be slightly reduced. It looks like southeast OK and northeast TX will see the best chance at severe weather tomorrow afternoon, ahead of the cold front. As for the rest of us...we should get some much needed rain followed by a transition to freezing rain and sleet tomorrow night and then to snow by early Thursday morning. At least that's how I see things playing out. But what do I know?

Winter Weather Event II

Another mesonet screen shot of current temps.

Winter Weather Event

I guess the wonderful weather we've been having is going to end in the next day or two. It will be quite and adjustment going from high temps in the low 70's to highs in the low to mid 30's. Right now it's not a question of "if" but "when" the cold front will arrive. It was supposed to pull back north and hang out in Kansas for the next couple of days. Right now the Mesonet site shows a little something different going on. Check out the current 24 hour temperature variance.

I'll post more on the upcoming winter event over the next few days. Looks like snow by mid-week at this point. I'll post the pics when it happens.

Centennial Fireworks

Last night was the kickoff for the Oklahoma Centennial. Below is a video clip of the fireworks show in Jenks taken from my apartment in south Tulsa.

Cowboys Are Bowl Eligible

Saturday morning I woke up at 6:45am and made my way west to Stillwater, OK to cheer the OSU football team on to it's 6th victory of the season. Getting to that magical 6th win is a big deal for an OSU football fan. As you probably know, that means we are bowl eligible. Now we just have to hope for a road win at Texas Tech and then we will stomp OU Thanksgiving weekend in Stillwater. I'm more worried about the road game. With each game we win, our bowl will get better and hopefully closer to home.

I truly became an alcoholic at this game as I cracked my first beer around 9:15am to wash down a breakfast burrito that we cooked on the grill. Little did I know that the party wouldn't stop for about 15 hours. Paid for that one the next day. Whew! I've included a few pics from Saturday below.
